My iPhone 8's battery has been getting more and more pitiful of late, and the phone's said the battery needed replacement for a while. But there have been other priorities lately, so I haven't done anything about it until today. In the past week, the phone has been usable for a shorter and shorter length of time, so I figured "service" meant "I'm dying!" And today those "other priorities" weren't in the way, so I took action.

I made a Genius Bar appointment online today for today, and I had lots of options for timeslots. When I went to the Apple Store, I was seen very close to the appointed time by someone who knew what he was doing.

He ran appropriate tests, not just battery tests. But when he saw the battery capacity go from 65% to less than 50% with running the flashlight app for about a minute, I'm sure that he'd have agreed to replace the battery even if the diagnostics didn't say it was necessary.

The store actually replaced the battery in the actual phone, and in less than an hour. I was shocked at how quick they were.

So here's a big thumbs up to the Apple Store at La Cantera, San Antonio Texas for taking care of my phone without me having to wait forever, or even very long at all.

nice! how much did it cost? I have an iphone 8 that is usually fine but using maps a lot on vacation noticed that a full charge would not last a day.

$49 plus tax. I was afraid it would be more, but since it’s an 8, that’s the rate.

That's a fantastic deal. I don't think you could get it done for less at some you-break-i-fix place, and they usually use generic batteries.

exactly... my daughter got her 6 battery replaced at one of those places and it was about $40... but it's still not a great battery.
