I want to reformat my disk on my MacBook because boot camp won't accept it but when I open Disk Utility it won't let me erase the disk. I have verified it, repaired permissions, and did some things to clean it up a bit and it still won't let me erase it. When I boot from the start disk it says "OSX cannot be installed on this computer." Anybody know what is going on here?

Boot from your OSX install disk, then run Disk Utility from the menu.

You can not reformat (you mean erase?) you are actually working from.
