Is this a new development? In the past few weeks, I've been getting ads on webpages with SOUND.

www.letssingit.com - a lyrics site - has this ****ing ad with a chick speaking.

Versiontracker has this annoying bloody antivirus ad with sound effects.

Goddammit. This pisses me off. I tolerate ads, but this is going too far.

From now on, I boycott any site with audio ads, popups, or popunders.

(that's added to my list... I already boycott flash and shockwave, etc...)

Ads piss me off too, and to make it worse they evolved.

They end up deterring me away from the actual product they are advertising. I have lots of Popup stoppers on my PC, but don't have any on my MAC.

Is there any freeware or shareware that is available for download for the Mac?

POPUPs Are EVIL..........

OmniWeb can do it, I think... Chimera too, I think...

Not too sure. I generally don't bother.

Not new, they've been around for awhile. The worst ones are where you just had your music on so the sound is way up, then some porn type talking ad starts going: "Hi I'm loo-loo, look at my hot naked body, I want you to *** all over me.." etc.. embarassing.

And these arnt even porn sites that they pop up from!

Jeesh!

the New York Times website has had them before. Flash ads, if I recall correctly. Since I don't use Flash, I removed it from the plug-in folder, and now I don't have to worry about Flash adverts.

I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide.
