Okay so.
I've got an AVI file right?
And in it's name it's referred to as xVid right?
And it plays perfectly in VLC, audio and everything, completely flawlessly...right?
And I've got toast titanium 7 right?
And I tried just dragging the single avi file straight into toast and letting it do its thing right?
Well...all worked fine except for the audio. The movie plays perfect on all of my dvd players...but none of them get any audio whatsoever.
And I have no idea what I should do...is this a codec issue? Any suggestions/solutions?
Anything and everything is much appreciated, thanks a lot!

in VLC, with the movie playing, hit cmd-i. Click Advanced Information, open both (all?) disclosure triangles, report back.
Also, does the audio play in QT Player? If so, it should work. If not there might be a known bug. Don't forget to report what VLC says.
In general, no one can tell you more than you tell them (about your problem). Be specific. But don't reference piracy.

okay well first off thank you very much for your quick reply and help...here's the info you asked about:
Stream O: Codec - XVID
Type - Video
Resolution - 592x320
Frame Rate - 23.976000
Stream 1: Codec - a52
Type - Audio
Channels - 2
Sample Rate - 48000 Hz
Bitrate - 192 kb/s
General: Duration - 1:30:45
And to answer your question about quicktime...no actually when I open the video file with quicktime (and i've got pro...if that even makes a difference in this case...) neither the video OR the audio works...thanks again for any and all help.

Many things use QuickTime to decode. Some things have options to do so. For this reason, you're better off if QT can decode your movie, but it's not necessary. If you want to do this, install the free codecs from perian.org, divx.com, and A52Codec - Trac
a52 is a nickname for ac3 audio (a5/2 is part of the name of the document that describes the ac3 specification). It is what's used in 99% of DVDs, and I know for a fact that Toast 7 can play it, although perhaps not when found in avi files. The last codec I listed above should allow QT (and thus Toast) to decode the audio. I guess Toast has inbuilt divx and xvid support, since it's obviously not using QT for that.
