Hi all,

Just wondering how you prefer to read your RSS feeds. I know Mail has an RSS feature built in but so does Safari. If you read RSS in Mail, I believe the article summaries are downloaded to your computer so you can take them and read them later, which is convenient when you don't have wifi. But then you end up deleting the feeds you've read anyway so wouldn't it eventually take a toll on the hard drive? Which leads me to want to read them on Safari...argh.

Share your thoughts please! I'm new to Leopard!

I use Google reader. The tagging feature and no brainer syncing on all my machines makes it the top dog of RSS readers. Netnewsreader is getting close with the syncing, but has poor tagging support...

I don't see the need for separate feed reading software when ultimately you're just looking at web content—view it in a web browser. I used to use the Sage extension for Firefox, but I recently switched to Google Reader.

Not one of your two choices, but I use NetNewsWire.

I used to use Safari under Tiger, then migrated to Mail.app when I upgraded to Leopard, then onto NewsFire when it became free. I really, really like NewsFire, because it has a fantastically well-designed and minimal interface, and I hate apps taking up loads of screen real-estate:

That said, I am going to give NetNewsWire a go, on the strength of the above recommendations.

Google Reader in your web browser of choice.

Also has an offline mode (requires you to install the Google Gears plugin) where it will cache the last 2000 posts for offline reading.

+1

I was embarrassingly late to RSS. Kind of knew about it, but never bothered to get into it. Now that I use Google Reader, I can't even fathom going back to checking a dozen or more sites individually. It literally changed the way I use teh tubes.

i'm noticing that google reader is a bit quirky. sometimes when i click on a feed, i get the "loading" prompt up at the top but then it hangs and nothing gets loaded. does anyone run into that?

that said, i think i may stick with netnewswire/newsgator...
