I have been trying for the life of me to get a decent bag that would also let me put text books along with the Powerbook in the same bag. Targus seems like it would be a good buy, but I am still not to sure.
I Just want to make sure that my comp is going to be protected properly. I want to make sure that the text books are going to be putting to much pressure on the computer.
So if anyone knows what would be a good bag to get, oh and keeping in mind that I want a backpack, please let me know!
Thanks!

I have a slightly different system for carrying my TiBook. I just bought a neoprene case from MarWare called the SportFolio. It is a small case, big enough only for the computer, some papers, and some acessories in the outer zippered pocket. I can either use the case by itself or put it inside of my backpack with the rest of my things. I like this flexibility because I don't normally take my book to class, but I want to be able to take it to the library or home occasionally.
If you are planning on having to carry your Book and your books together a lot, I would recommend something like what Targus makes. A couple of friends carry WinBooks in them, and they like them.
Hope that helps,
David Gluckman

I found a bag at El Portal which includes a sleeve and fits the Tibook perfectly. It is well padded and has plenty of room for AC adapters/headphones/etc in the front.
The rear section (which is also expandable) has more then enough room for my books (and they are HEAVY). Great bag to take around. It is leather however, so you may want to look elsewhere for a neoprene/nylon bag...

Spire and Tom Bihn make some great backpacks for Powerbooks. The bags from both companies are very high quality and look great too. Best of all, they don't scream "computer bag" when you see them. Check them out.

I have noticed that the Ti book screen can be wrecked from the behind. My only REAL concern is that the book and such are going to be pressing up against the back of my screen. I just don't want a broken LCD. I looked at Targus and they seemed to have a very good product, so good infact, that I am going to get one if I think my book is going to be safe and secure in it.

I have two bags:
One is the Boblbee Megalopolis that always gets stares and comments. It looks like a futuristic jetpack-sled on my back, but it is comfortable and it protects my tibook completely. It's just friggin huge.
The bag I use now is the Spire Icon. It is well made, it doesn't look like a computer bag, it has loads of room for other junk and it is soft-sided. It also comes with its own sleeve that can be carried separately from the bag.
I carried a couple of scripts (120 pages each), a gameboy, closed-ear headphones, a Newton, a paperback, my computer and an extra shirt and pair of pants. The bag was full, but it wasn't horrible.
The boblbee on the other hand can't hold much more than the powerbook and a couple of books because it is a hard shell bag...
I hope this helps.

Waterfield Designs ( http://www.sfbags.com) has fantastic cases and bags. Their size 11 sleeve case is sized to fit the TiBook.

Check out http://www.bagreview.com. There's even a section specifically for Titaniums.
I liked (and bought) Brenthaven's Titanium 2 backpack. It has a sleeve within that securely holds the TiBook and many other pockets for accessories (and books).

The Brenthaven is the best for the TiBook in my opinion. It's extremely durable and very protective of the TiBook. I own one and recommend it highly. You can get one at your local Apple Store or Comp USA now carries them! $149

the timbuk2 bags are great. they have a medium-large messenger bag with a seperate tibook-specific padded sleave. terrific construction, extremely durable. i go through bags quickly (my previous samsonite leather bag died on me) but this bag seems to be holding up very well. they're also very customizable and should have room for at least a few textbooks.
not cheap but worthwhile.

another vote for Waterfield designs. I've had a medium cargo w/Ti sleeve for about a year and I love it (and the seatbelt is cool ...).

I agree with SmacSteve. I think the Brenthaven is a great bag for the TIBook. I purchased mine from the Apple Store, In the bag I carry my Ti800, Podium Pad, Palm Sync Cradle, Canon Scanner, USB Light, Numeric Keypad, Travel Kit with auto & plain adapter, extra Blank CD's, External Floppy Drive, Extra Floppies, and a host of cables, plugs, etc.
I think the bag is great!

Hi,
I just got a 1470 Pelican case with pick and pluck foam insert.
I really like it, and it gives my powerbook a watertight, damn near not crushable, droppable shell.
Got it for 100 bucks.

I bought a laptop sleeve from timbuk2 and can vouch for the thing being great. I take the case in and our of my northface recon pack all the time, its been across the country with me. worth the $40 if u got a good bag to put the sleeve in.

What colors did you choose for your bag? I was thinking about the Taxi Yellow or the Silver Cargo.
I looked at the Brenthaven TI-1 bag, it's too black for my taste. It has absolutely no personality.

Can anyone recommend a bag to hold a precious Ti and some books for the grad student on the go? I wanna tote the laptop, but the books must make the journey as well.

I went for taxi yellow - looks awesome however if I were to choose again I'd go all black. Sometimes it gets just too much.
In all top notch bags, i have both vertical and landcape sleeves depending on if I take the rucksack or cargobag. Not a single problem with the products over the last year and the Ti has kept like new.
