he said "a large number went out over the weekend." and he thought that would have "taken care of these". mine should ship out during this week. if not, to call back and they'll have more info.

by "taken care of these", i think he meant the backlogged ADC orders.

if i don't get a tracking number by wednesday, i'm going to call back.

Hehe, not sure man, I think Apple just picks it's order to be filled at random or something! And I'm heading home in about 2 minutes from school, I'll be hoping the whole way there to see a tracking # in my inbox once I get there!

EDIT: I'm home, and as of 4:16pm EST, I still have no tracking number! Argh! But my card has been charged...so it better ship tomorrow...please Apple!

I work at the bookstore of a university and we have yet to recieve any 17" Powerbooks. We placed an order for a whole bunch on 1/10, and last week our shipping date was pushed back to 4/25. It seems Apple right now is only shipping out single orders.

Every Mac that was in Apple Warehouse was shipped, because the Quarter ended. I guess thats what they have to do to report there sales or something ... Thats what the Apple Rep told me at the PSU computer Expo.

My school has one I think, just one. but they opened it and it's a display model. They are probably treating you like a reseller.

What does your FedEX tracking page say? Mine does tell me that it has left Alaska. I know from my previous experience (when I ordered an iBook - it was shipped the same way) that I *should* have my PB tomorrow morning. Everything going fine, this is what the shipping stuff would end up looking like:

* Shipped 3/29 Taiwan time (3/28 PST)
* Waited entire day Sunday at Taiwan airport
* Left Taiwan 3/31 Taiwan time
* Reached Alaska 3/31 at 1400 PST
* Left Alaska 3/31 soon after
* (Hopefully) Will be delivered 4/1 California before 10:00 am

Any other new ADC shipments today? It's been ~72 hours since Apple charged my credit card, so I'm expecting a tracking number by the end of today, or tomorrow at the very latest...hopefully when I get home today I'll have a wonderful "[email protected]" email in my inbox! *crosses fingers!*
Well, the portfolio is in and as soon as I print out my resume and turn it in, I am cleared for graduation. I had my intro. exit interview and everything is done except the resume.

I called and they basically didn't explain anything. They told me that the original ship time of 6-8 weeks was correct and I'd probably get my 17" at the end of that spectrum. So with any luck I'll have it in two weeks Thanks for letting me gripe to you guys.

CONGRATS!!!! Glad to hear everything went well on the graduation end of things! And as for your sorrowful news about your PB, don't worry, my credit card has been charged but Apple seemingly likes to make me overly excited for no reason, as it's been 5 days since then and STILL no tracking number or shipping email.

Bah. Tyson's got a shipment in today and my friend that works their snagged one for me, but alas, I am 100 miles from my credit card and they will only take VISA over the phone. I had to let it go.

I heard a story from someone about how they called Apple about their late order. Well, Apple said they couldn't do anything but the next day the Powerbook shipped. Coincidence?

I'm just hoping that my two calls (the first was quite weak I must admit, but I got a firm hand on the second) might end in the same result. Fingers crossed!

Are they still open right now today? If so, I'm gonna give them a call and try my best to get the ball rolling using the fact that they're tying up my credit line and so they best give me some proof of why they're doing so, and hopefully get overnight shipping in the process.

Well I just called and they close at 6pm, argh, so no luck today, but I'll try again tomorrow.

And Apple has charged my credit card, therefore dramatically reducing my credit limit that I have avilable for other purchases, and I refuse to have such a burden on my card without a product in my hand to justify it.

CONGRATS MOOSE!!!!! You got yours today man?! Sweet deal! Transferring files from a Wintel machine onto it or a Mac? You doing it via your network or using a program like Move2Mac? I plan on moving all my mp3's, Word docs., etc. to my PB from my Wintel machine via my home network...I'm kinda scared of how well that's gonna work considering I'm a bit of a Mac newbie, this being my first Mac and all.

Again, congrats man, enjoy it!

Yeah AssassyN, I'm a PEECEE switcher here too, but I've prepped what I have to do to transfer all of my files. I have a firewire card in my desktop PEECEE, so I have two choices I believe. The first would be doing what you are doing over a home network. However, I believe that target disk mode (connecting the laptop to the desktop then holding "T" on the 17) works even with PEECEEs. The laptop harddrive just becomes an external harddrive to the PEECEE. Hopefully that works because its faster, however if it doesn't, I'll be doing the home network and I can help you if you need too.

Thanks man! I'll be sure to hit you guys up if I run into problems...has your OOB been updated or anything?

Moving from old PowerBook to this one, as this is my third PowerBook G4 (400->667/DVI->17"). I'm what people would call a "mixer." My job is to run a Windows 2000 network. I have WinXP on the desktop at both home and work. WinXP at home I only use for games now.

Shipped the 29th. Picked up at the FedEx station this morning before the van to my house left.

Screen's big. Speakers are magnificent. The keyboard's gonna take awhile to get used to if you're accustomed to the traditional PowerBook keyboard. It's a bit halfway between the 15"'s keyboard and that of a Dell. The keys feel a little more plasticky but the feel's still better than that of the Dell.

This thing is the perfect size.

Could have been the same shipment, but different pallet. They clear Customs pallet-by-pallet.

Battery comes pre-charged, but you're supposed to condition it as one of the first things you do.

Argh! What was your order date again? Hmm...I'd definitely get on the phone w/ the ADC (1-800-793-9378, and then hit #3 when that lady starts talking) and find out what's up w/ your order. Pressuring them may help, may not, but if you call let us know what they tell you. I'm hoping it ships out soon for you man!

Dang bro, I placed my order on Feb. 23rd, 4 days after yours...did you get any other things as well? I'm starting to believe Apple seriously picks at random which orders to fulfill and in what order. Dang man, here's to hoping for a shipping notice soon!

I doubt it was rejected, I bet there was just some sort of bad timing going on. If you've faxed it in, just called ADC during their normal business hours (9am-6pm CST) at 1-800-793-9378, and once that automated person begins speaking, hit #3, and it'll take you a live person. Explain to them your situation, tell them your name & that you've faxed your stuff in, and that person should be able to activate your account & go ahead & process your order. Good luck!

I placed an order on Febrary 4th and my OOB is toay. I have not received any notice about shipping so far. I called Apple toay morning and the teller said he did not know why the shipping delayed. I am very disappointed with Apple's treatment. Anyway, I would wait a couple of days more. What I learned by waiting is how silly it is to buy Apple products at online store.

Shame on you, Apple.
