Was a bit surprised no one started a thread on it yet.. 8A323 is the latest build right?
Im just curious whats new in it. Post it up here for those that have info

Right, fair enough, its just that there was no problem with the 8A268 thread. That had lots of interesting information from people who have actually used it. So thought we could do the same for 8A323
Must admit, I did get the chance to play with 8A268 for a couple of hours once, and I was surprised how well it ran. Good stuff considering the final release is supposedly still some way off.. I doubt i'll get the opportunity to try 8A323 though, so i'm all the more curious to see whats going on.

Here are a few obscure ones that I've heard, but not seen in this forum:
- Enhanced "quirks mode" in Safari, resulting in better compatibility with IE. Basically this means that Safari will work much, much better with the typically awful HTML that dominates the web
- Full OggVobis (both encoding and decoding) support, out of the box, in Quicktime and iTunes.
- Support for backing up and copying commercial DVDs in Disk Utility.
- Introduction of the "red box" - full compatibility with Windows binaries, using software licensed from PearPC. Windows applications should run at 80% of the host computer's speed.
- Tiger finally achieves Apple's original goal for OS X to support "...all PowerPC-based Macintoshes and Mac OS-compatibles sold by Apple and Apple licensees since January 7, 1997". I, for one, am thrilled I'll finally be able to run a fully PowerPC native operating system on my 7200/120 "DOS Compatible"

What's worrying is that I didn't get that you were joking until Red Box! I'd heard about good Ogg support from somewhere else, and the quirks mode one was plausible, so I wasn't sure...
Darn it, got my hopes up there!

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Maybe since SpotLight is going to become such an important element in OS X, they want to keep the keyboard shortcut consistent from one account to the next so everyone always knows how to activate it.
That's the only reason I can think of.

Nah, "Support for backing up and copying commercial DVDs in Disk Utility." gave it away. Mr Pixar himself encouraging ripping off The Incredibles? No way!
But why don't they have a quirks mode for Safari already!
Back on topic, I too am surprised by the absence of Tiger threads. I hope that isn't a sign that the Mac community is getting jaded by Mac OS X evolution. There is a lot of incredible under-the-hood stuff in Tiger, probably more API introductions than any other release.
Probably though the most significant stuff won't be what comes out in March, but six months later when the 3rd party apps that make use of it appear.

The spotlight keyboard shortcut IS editable. Go to System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts.

Because they don't want to encourage web devs to to write crappy code. Firefox and Safari are gaining group, so it's good they follow web standards. Please don't follow IE's mistakes!
