Seems to be normal for the new Imac's. I have both a white 24 " and a new Alum. 24". The New Imac gets hot on the top left only if I play games or otherwise stress the graphics card.

Not exactly, but the heat sinks for cpu & gpu are there.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

Damn! I had noticed the top right corner of my mac was hot, but I hadn't tried the left side.. Like Paris Hilton would say.. "That's HOT!"

My 2.8 GHz iMac has been running all day now, it's nowhere near the point where it's almost too hot to bare when touching it.

That's interesting.

I have a new 24inch iMac I got last month - 2.8GHz/2Gig Ram. It is lukewarm on the top/right side, and moderately warm on the top left -- so I think it's a common issue. No worries!!

Are any of you experiencing the videocard overheating and locking up the screen as has been reported elsewhere?
I look forward to a future where the present will be in the past.

People seem to be asking this questions alot. Remember the imac is a compact design, and the shell is made out of aluminium so it would be normal for it to get hot.
