Hi there

Whenever a black screen appears on my monitor I see hundreds of dead pixels (variation in colour-- green, red etc..) all spread out

Is there anyway to fix them?

Thanks

Send her back.

Try this maybe first it might unstick them.
Download Pixel Fix 3.01 for Mac - Pixel Fix - Widget to fix stuck pixels - Softpedia
This will give you a good hint on how many are dead/stuck.

You have 1 year of complimentary service and Applecare brings it another 3 years. Do you mean you have Applecare for your Mac Pro and your display or only yout Mac Pro?

If you really have hundreds, you should have no problem getting it replaced.

its more like this:

It might be a video card problem too. I have heard lots of reports of people that have had good displays and bad cards with pixels like that.

Yep. My Radeon X1900XT went bad. Looked like that. Popped back in the stock GF7300 and all's normal again.

What Cadaver said. My replacement X1900XT fixed all of the problems I was having with my display.
