Apple has already met with officials from Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to complain about the announcement of the iPhone 6's certification in the country, according to local newspaper Thai Rath. Although NBTC Secretary General Takorn Tantasith only disclosed the general name of the product and two model numbers -- A1586 and A1524 -- and was allegedly following government guidelines in doing so, Apple argues that he released confidential information.

Tantasith has countered by pointing out that he didn't reveal product details, and that such announcements are meant to safeguard shoppers. He in fact claims that Apple only requested that specifications be kept secret, and that if it really wanted to the company could punish Thailand by canceling the iPhone 6's release in the country.

Representatives from Apple's Singapore offices are said to have visited Tantasith and told him that the two iPhone models might not use the "iPhone 6" name, and that they would explain the situation to Apple's US headquarters. Despite the company's reaction, the representatives are said to have assured the NBTC that plans to sell the iPhone in Thailand will continue.

Apple is expected to ship new iPhones next month. Thailand could be in the list of launch countries, since it has never certified an iPhone this early.
