Hi there

I have a Mac Pro 2.66 quad bought in 2006 aug, which video cards are compatible with this version? i recall reading somewhere that the Nvidia 8800 will not work, due to the power needed

I have had some rough times with my ati x1900

The 8800 won't work due to firmware compatibility issues. Apple is still working on a solution for this with NVidia, and should have 8800 GT upgrade kits available at some point.

However, it depends on what you need a different card for. As pointed out in another thread, both the 8800 and Quatro get beaten by both the ATI 1900 and 2600 in Motion. Games though will tend to run better on the 8800.

No ETA last I heard.
Drakino makes a good point though, the other's will do well if you need a GPU for Pro Apps or everyday use. If it's for hardcore gaming and you don't want to wait, you could use an off the shelf 8800 for Windows only use.

I have a Radeon 2600XT in my 2.66GHz Mac Pro. Works quite well.

Had a Radeon 1900XT which killed itself and Apple wouldn't replace it since the machine was out of warranty. I didn't want to spend $400 on a replacement since I don't play too many games anyway - just a quick play of Unreal Tournament 2004 every now and then. And the 7300GT wasn't going to do it, so hurray for the fairly inexpensive (Apple dollars here) 2600.

And for what its worth, even though its an old game, the 2600XT will run UT2K4 at 1920x1200 at highest detail settings without trouble. So I'm happy.

Perhaps, if the 8800 actually ever materializes, I'll buy one. But for now, this will do.

As has been stated, Apple is working on the firmware update for the 8800 card. For the record, after my first 1900 cooked off, the replacement, with the new firmware I slapped on has been perfect. I think that first batch of 1900 cards were bad eggs but the rest are fine.

Hi guys,

Does anyone have experience with different color rendering in different views - in the same moment (AutoCad)?
Anyone tried to install 4 graphic cards NVidia Quadro FX 5600 connected - each withy separate LCD screen, and to render same element in AutoCad differently in specific view?
For ex. I want to have one of piping functional system rendered in different color on each screen (Isometric view-one color-red), and other 3 views also - each rendered in different color(e.g. Side view-yellow, Top view - green, and Front view - blue).

Anyone have experience like this?
