Credit where credit is due: Missouri House GOP
House panel approves early voting, online registration
The House Elections Committee on Monday unanimously passed measures to allow early voting, online voter registration and to create a study committee to come up with clearer rules for restoration of voting rights for convicts.

The full House last year overwhelmingly passed similar early voting and online registration measures that died in the Senate. Restoration of voting rights for convicts has been a source of debate in the Legislature for decades — based on what many call antiquated law — and is now done on a case-by-case basis, requiring the full Legislature to passe individual suffrage bills.

In the past, all three issues were heatedly partisan, with most Republicans opposed to such reform. On Monday, all three bills passed were authored by Republicans and passed by a Republican-led committee.
Hopefully their senate passes the measures.

WH defends Holocaust statement that didn't mention Jews | TheHill
Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks told CNN that "despite what the media reports, we are an incredibly inclusive group and we took into account all of those who suffered."

Hicks reportedly provided a link to a story that noted that while 6 million Jews were killed by Nazis, another 5 million non-Jewish people were killed under Adolf Hitler.
The Jews got All Lives Matter'd.

Also, if people are already suspect that this admin has right nationalist ties, this kind of thing doesn't help.

Trump wants closer ties with Israel: "OMG, he's a Zionist!"
Trump acknowledges that almost as many gays, gypsies, and blacks were killed during the Holocaust: "OMG, he's a Nazi!"

The Left is a damned joke.

Rep. Dave Brat: 'The women are in my grill no matter where I go' - Virginia News - Richmond, Va., News, Entertainment, Events, Food, Dining, Sports, Business and Commentary

Rep. Dave Brat, R-7th, is feeling some political pressure as Republicans in Congress move to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“Since Obamacare and these issues have come up, the women are in my grill no matter where I go,” Brat told an audience Saturday at a meeting of conservative groups at Hanover Tavern.

“They come up — ‘When is your next town hall?’ And believe me, it’s not to give positive input.”

Brat, R-7th, asked the GOP-friendly audience to get organized.

“Help us write newspaper articles. We’re getting hammered,” he said.
Democracy rears it's ugly head.

This failed. Apparently the GOP could change panel rules on cloture to vote without Dems. Not sure exactly as I haven't seen it explained well anywhere.

Calling Jeff Sessions “racist” conveniently ignores the work he’s done for Alabama’s black community - Salon.com

Before Dems decided to lose their minds and start bashing the man, because trashing anything Trump does is so fashionable, they actually defended him.

Careful linking to Salon, I hear it's not a reliable source.

Putting this in the general news thread because this is infuriating
Senate GOP votes to silence Warren after speech against Sessions | TheHill
Warren was silenced, what I can tell, insulting a senator from the floor (against senate rules). This would make sense except:

A. She was quoting a letter from Coretta Scott King
B. More egregiously, they were discussing the nomination of Sessions

To claim you can't impugn the character of nominee because he is still a sitting senator is absurd.

The senator from Oregon later got to finish reading the letter, so it was less about the content of the letter, or impugning Sessions honor (?!) but more about trying to shut Liz up. Rule 19 is selectively enforced. #shepersisted

I'm terrified about Putin advancing into Korea, as per Maxine Waters' statement. WTF?!!? Why weren't we told about this sooner?

Also, Bush is apparently back in office again. Not sure which one, Pelosi wasn't very specific.

Really? You could point out that they didn't read the same parts of the letter, he didn't go into the direct "bad mouthing" until the very end of his speech (a much more intelligent angle, if you actually want to try and skirt the rules and aren't looking for victim points). #shesavictim

There you go loving victims yet again. What a sympathetic chap you are.

If you saw a child hit by a car, would you rush over to lecture the kid about how great cars are, how the driver was probably forced to hit him by rioting liberals and about how he's a precious little snowflake and shouldn't cry just because he can see both his broken shins sticking out through his calves?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Title:
America's kids got more stupid in reading, math and science while Team Obama was in charge
Actual results:
Based on their findings, the United States saw an 11-point drop in math scores and nearly flat levels for reading and science.
