It's just gross. You could argue that Tom Hanks didn't really deserve one either, but Tom Hanks at least is a decent human.

The sad part is that seems to be the only thing the right cares about these days. Little things like character and governance be damned. This man's mendacity knows no bounds by any objective measure. But as long as he continues to "piss off liberal" you guys are fine with that. It speaks volumes ....

Yes, by all means, let's give one of our nation's highest honors to a man who has dedicated pretty much his entire career to dividing the nation. This pretty much equates the Medal of Freedom with the Iron Cross.

It's a sign of intellectual and moral weakness when politics is just about the cheap entertainment of sticking it to the other side rather than make your country better.

Well, yeah.

Who in their right mind expects politicians to do the right thing and be decent these days ?
Those days are long gone.

Now, I just want to be entertained.
And entertained I am.

I've been saying this for years. US politics is literally 'mostly good' Vs. 'Utterly evil'.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Politicians grow up in political systems that have certain incentives. If fund raising is as ridiculously important as it is in the US, then yeah, just to run a campaign you will be nudged towards taking money from corporations and rich people. And it is the reason why there are so many rich people in Congress and the government (including people from political dynasties like the Bushs, the Romneys, the Clintons, etc.) But people should blame the system, not the individuals.

Changing the system is the responsibility of the people. If you like to be distracted by bread and games, though, then you are part of the problem — you have the system you deserve, you live in Idiocracy.
