As the thread title says, I'm thinking about replacing my old TV with my monitor. Ideally, I'd just like to output the cable signal to my monitor, which I imagine would require a card with an RF input and software. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, how much did it cost?

I'm a Time Warner subscriber, so I have to keep the cable box as they scramble their signals. I'm also running on a G5, but am saving up for a Mac Pro in the spring. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Have you used it? If so, what is your experience?

I have used the EyeTV 250 Plus with a G4 sawtooth (pitiful I know, but I'm a college student) with regular cable and it has worked fantastic. You can also set it up to work with a cable box (you'll still need to use the cable box remote to change channels though).
The software is ridiculously (EyeTV) easy to use, even for exporting recordings to iTunes and setting up repeating recordings.
It passes the girlfriend test, if she can use it, anyone with a reasonable sense of electronics can use it.

Do you want a solution that's tied to a computer or something that will work independently?

What monitor do you have?

Right now I'm thinking about one that's tied to the computer. And I have a Viewsonic 20 inch, 1680 x 1050.
