"Among those attending the funeral were members of Patriot Guard Riders, a veterans motorcycle group that provides an escort and color guard at military funerals. Lately, the group has been serving another purpose, that of shielding family members from a Topeka, Kan., church whose members have been protesting at military funerals, saying soldiers are dying because God is angry with America's tolerance of homosexuality."

Too bad these nutjobs aren't near me.
I'd let them know how much I disagree with their tactics. My way.

I'd like to see where they have come across this belief. It certainly isn't in my Bible that it could possibly be true.

People who hate will simply find justification for hating. Christianity is simply a tool they use to justify their hate. I question their Christianity. But it's up to god to judge them.

Oh yeah. These jackasses have been at this sort of thing for years. The Phelps family and their brand of "hatred in the name of Christ" (what a crock THAT is, anyway) has been a stain on the state of Kansas for years. The worst thing you can do is give them any sort of press, as that only encourages them.

I would use any legal means to stop a mob of these hippoctires. And maybe a few borderline methods.
A bullhorn in their ears comes to mind.

I've never been arrested for any violent behavior.

Which means I can probably get away with it once.

So, I'm saving the opportunity for when I run across those dumbasses from the Topeka KS church.

These people give my religion a bad name. I suppose I get off kind of easy, though: at least I'm not that one church in Canada with the same name as them. That must really suck; I've often wondered why they don't change their name just to get rid of the association with those freaks.

The leader of these fiends runs for President every election. He's never even come close to winning, and to be honest I'm not sure he's ever even gotten on the ballot outside of Kansas, but he tries every time.

This thread is appalling. When you threaten violence against a Christian group because they are merely expressing their views, you're a terrorist. Adults don't hurl firebombs at people because they said something they disagree with. You must all practice the religion of intolerance and suppression of speech. And you're not Christians (or even decent people) because no Christian or decent person would ever advocate violence for any reason. Disgrace!

Last I checked, I didn't advocate violence. But the Westboro Baptists do need to be exposed for the false Christians that they are. Fortunately, they do a pretty thorough job of that on their own.

No one advocated violence.

Irony (i·ro·ny) : Witty language used to convey insults or scorn.

It was a dig on the nutty Muslims (not that all Muslims are nutty) that are burning down embassies and rioting in the streets over a cartoon.

How about someone comes up with a plan to help develop a certain part of Topeka, Kansas to the greater benefit of the whole population - by condemning certain people's property so it can be developed into something like, oh, a memorial to all the people who voluntarily gave up their lives so that even nut jobs could spout their own idiocy and hate without fear of reprisal or oppression. Oh, wait. That would be bad, wouldn't it. Darn. Maybe we could just REMIND these idiots that the people whose funerals they're protesting at died protecting their right to be idiots in public. With big signs and Sky Captain's bull horns.

I say we gather up all the radicals of Islam and Christianity and let them have gladiator style death matches vs. each other in televised arenas. It would be strictly voluntary of course.

I am extremely suspicious of anyone claiming to know what God wants, regardless of whether they're Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, or even the Pope himself. Any of these people will tell you that "God works in mysterious ways" when something happens that they don't understand. How, then, can they ever be sure about what God wants? They are simply saying it to further their own Earthly agenda.

Kevin wasn't implying that Jesus was a Christian, but the fact that Jesus is the ultimate example that Christians are to follow.

So, you're trying to pass your incorrect comment off as a joke?

Nice deflection.

Yes, violence will convince them to change their ways.

These people are a lot like a certain poster here, who shall go unnamed. He, and they, keep coming back because they thrive on attention, even if it's negative attention, and they know that some people will always respond to them, because those responders also thrive on attention and they have to have someone to feel superior towards. It's a vicious circle, with nobody in it having a clue as to what's going.

no, it's more like someone else is trying to pass my joke off as more than it was. is there any particular reason you seem bent on starting an argument?

1. the comment *was* correct - jesus (the christ) was not a "christian"
2. it *was* intended as a joke.
3. i put these things in - ;-) - to help people realize 2. and although...
4. i've explained the comment twice to help your misunderstanding. still...
5. you see fit to as much as call me a liar. which makes me think that...
6. you're either in a bad mood or working bad wood - or both.

if this type of behaviour is going to be the norm from you while you're on "sabbatical" i guess i'll have to find another place to play.

be well. (seriously)
