I haven't tested this on a Mac yet, only a PC.

If you mispell a real web address or for the sake of this post, you type in a completely wrong web address like "www.sdsf2222.com" the page will try to load and then you'll get the typical "Safari can't find the server" message. And then you realize that you mispelled the address, so you want to delete the letter "f" in the address. YOU CAN'T!

Safari 4 doesn't let you edit your text if typed in wrong. Everytime i click the text to change it, it try's to reload the page again.

Definitely a bug. Hope you've reported it.

As a way out, use one of your cursor keys (Up/Down/Left/Right) first.

Oddly enough, i didn't report it to Apple.
My first and only thought was to report it to the MacNN Forum for others to confirm.

Never even occurred to me to report to Apple.
I'm not sure how to report to Apple.

how do i report?

This bug doesn't exist for me on my MacBook. Must be a special feature for Windows users.

Safari also stores these url typos in top hits which is super annoying.

Worked fine for me even using the www.sdsf2222.com that the OP mentioned. Once I get the error I can modify the URL without issue.

Works fine in Windows here. Try making sure you aren't putting the cursor on the refresh button and trying to click there. If you are, well, good luck with your future computer endeavors.
