I have a lot of fonts.

Well over 40,000 and 4 gigs worth of fonts.

I have been trying to combine all of my fonts into one set.

I have tried Font Reserve to remove duplication fonts.

I have tried Font Font Agent Pro to remove duplicate fonts.

I have tried Font Doctor to remove duplicate fonts.

I now have more duplicate fonts. I keep getting font names with an extra number at the end of the font name. For example: Times 1, Times 2, Times 3, Times 4, Times 5, ect ect.

Font Doctor is a dog. It is slow as hell. Can take over a month to go through 2 gig of fonts. No kidding. I once ran it for over three months going through all of my fonts on a seperate G3 BW mac in the corner of the office.

FAP can crash, thus causing another set of fonts with duplicate names and a new number at the end of the font name.

This is a nightmare.

What do the pros use to remove duplicate fonts and organzie thier fonts into one clean master set of fonts?

This might be a silly question, but what the hell do you do that takes 40,000 fonts?

Have you tried Duplicate Catcher? It's not just for fonts but it is very flexible in its searches.

jeez man, I thought I was a teafreak...

You need to do some serious FileTyping.

I worked for a company that created a FileMaker database of all of the fonts we had inhouse. You don't need that part - yet. The second part was an AppleScript that would go into the folders, grab the File Type and Creator and Foundry of each font it is written in the code, then move them to another directory and sort them by Foundry, Family and Name. It removed duplicates.

Speaking of duplicates, there's three versions of this thread...
