I've not clocked a lot of hours with OS X, but here's the first pblm i face. My computer Pismo/400 with 192 MB RAM, is not powerful enough to run X and Classic at the same time.

Therefore, I dun want Classic to autostart anytime unless i ask it to.

However, e.g when I download a file from the net, X prompts Stuffit Expander Classic to open to unstuff the file, and this takes ages.

How can i disable classic without deleting it froim my system? (because i still need to boot into it to do myu primary work)

have you tried running them both? your configuration seems adequate enough... If anything, while ram prices are low, do yourself a favor and buy a 256 meg stick, you shouldn't have any performance issues then... besides the usual OS X issues

There's been a Carbon Stufflt Expander since March--the problem is usually that IE is too stupid to use it. The solution is to use OmniWeb or iCab for downloading files.
