Hi, I have tried searching for this answer already.

I have multiple users on my old Beige G3.

I just bought a new eMac.

How can I move my main admin user from Mac OS 10.2.4 on the Beige G3 to our new eMac. I want to retain all of my preferences, all of my iPhoto/iTunes Libraries. You get the idea.

Is CarbonCopy the program of choice? Is it easy to use?

Any special tricks I should know?

a possable way of doing this.

create the account for the user to be moved on the eMac.

use disk copy to create an image of a file or folder, point it at your home directory and let it go.

transfer the dmg to your emac, put all the content into your home dir, log out, log in, should be good.

Good idea. then I should be able to give my transfered User admin priviledges.

But isn't CarbonCopy the program others are using to do this?

I just don't want to loose all of my photos and e-mails and e-mail settins and rules and ect.

CCC is used to copy OS X and the home folders. I've been running a copy I made with CCC for a week or two now and everything seems fine. Since you have nothing to lose with the new eMac, I suggest you give it a try. Make sure you keep a copy of that OS X setup from the beige G3 just in case. Ahh, the good ol' beige G3 days. I remember I was in my first year of college when that came out. Darn impressive machine back then.

No need for all this hassle:

Step 1. Create a new user with admin privs (assuming you want it to be the main user) on eMac (make sure you don't login to that user on the eMac).
Step 2. Connect to eMac via Ethernet using the new account
Step 3. Select-All the files in the home directory and drag them to the eMac home directory. THAT SIMPLE! Replace all files btw.
In vino veritas.
