The Sony HDR-HC1 HD camcorder is not on Apple's list of
supported DV camcorders:

However, some posts seem to indicate that it does work
with iMovie. Is anybody in this forum using it with iMovie?

I don't have that camera, but as long as its using a Firewire (or as Sony likes to call it, iLink) it should be seen by OS X and any DV stream aware apps. If however its using a USB port for output, then you may have issues since USB requires drivers.

Forget the USB all together and get a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire. There have been some posters in Apple discussions that have had problems, but just as many that do not.

All compatible cameras are not listed on the Apple site-just the ones that have been verified.

The Sony HDR-HC1 HD camcorder does indeed work with iMovie HD 6. I just tried it today and it's working. iMovie HD 6 has some quirks. I'll post them later.
