OK, first, I'm working on the site, so yes, it does look like crap right now.

http://sdat1333.com/template.php

The two navigation buttons at the top that I have uploaded so far, I want them to sit directly next to each other, no white space in between. Any ideas? I've tried setting the margin on the images to 0 (im not even sure if the margin tag even applies to images).

What browser are you viewing it in? It appears to be correct in Safari?

firefox and IE
but I just figured it out
for some reason the fact that I had the code (for the links and images) on separate lines made the space. As soon as I moved it all to one line it fixed it. Too bad the code is just about impossible to read now :/

For better source code readability, comment out the white space
e.g.

<a href=""><img src="" /></a><!--
--><a href=""><img src="" /></a><!--
--><a href=""><img src="" /></a><!--
--><a href=""><img src="" /></a>

A quick note: Accessibility guidelines warn developers of placing links back to back. That means <a href="">link</a><a href="">link</a> is a no-no. You're encouraged to place at least a character in between them be it a comma, a pipe, a bullet, or whatever. However, wrapping the links in a list prevents the links from being adjacent e.g. <li><a href="">link</a></li> <li><a href="">link</a></li> <li><a href="">link</a></li> But you'd need to style the list appropriately, and for IE you'd still need to comment out the white space.
