There is still a lot of features that I am not taking advantage of with the Panther operating system.
For example: Is there a way to go directly to my user directory from start - instead of opening Macintosh HD, Users, My Name, and then Documents?
So provide any hints that you use with Panther.

Sure is... open your finder then find the directory you want to see most often then drag and drop into the dock or the side of the finder window.
Finally released was David Pogue's book "Mac OS X, The Missing Manual, Panther Edition". I highly recomend this book. Pogue describes things in the simplest manner... I purchased my copy from Barnes and Noble online for twenty bucks and free shiping.
Good luck!

Just hit Cmd-N (and set the Finder Preferences to open your home folder if necessary).

Just click on the happy mac icon (left end of dock) and your home directory will open, at least in 10.2, I assume it is the same in 10.3

As some have said:
You can set the finder to default to your home directory when opening a new window. Finder -> Preferences -> General Tab -> New Finder Window Opens -> Select "Home" from the dropdown.
You can also drag your home folder to the sidebar or dock (as mentioned).
Finally, check your "Go" menu when in the Finder, there are keyboard shortcuts to a lot of the standard folders: Command + shift + H for Home, Command + shift + A for Applications, etc.
