I used to have Limewire on my old Windows PC, and it would put Spyware, Adware, and all kinds of crap on it. It would make my computer run very slow, and eventually crash.

I was just wondering if I downloaded Limewire or Acquisition for the iMac, would it do the same? I just got this brand new computer (20" iMac, 2.1gHz processor, 1GB Ram, 250GB Harddrive) and I really don't want to maek it crash or load it with ad-ware.

Thanks, and then just let me know what programs are good to use and are adware/spyware/crap free.

I will use it to download music and a few videos.

Thanks!

As far as I know there aren't any companies with spyware/adware for OSX that they'll pay other companies to include in their products (like Limewire for Windows does).

Acquisition is popular, but I've heard a lot of people complain about it slowing down and/or crashing their Mac; not because of spyware/adware/crapware, but just because the program itsself and OSX don't work to well together.
