Heres what I have sitting in my room.

http://www.joshuazimmerman.com/media/b&wpowermac.jpg

I'm using a 12in Powerbook now, but I still find use for old Macs. Notice the two B&Ws. The left one is a B&W 300 mhz G3, running my webpage. The one on the right is a file server I'm setting up running off a B&W 350 mhz G3. Its got over 800 GIGs on it, and serves many needs for my buddies and I. Notice how there are two Hard Drives sitting in an old 6100 case to the right, and an IDE cable going into the B&W.

Ok, I know it's not a PowerMac, but i feel left out so am going to post this anyway!

http://www.adam.skelton.name/pics/setup.jpg

L to R

iMac DV, Soundsticks, 10gb Rev 2 iPod, Toshiba Satellite Pro (work laptop), HP Jornada 710 (again work), Denon U DM31 (kicks ass for a sub 250 stereo), hp deskjet 5150, and Fuji Finepix 6800z used to take this photo.

I'm happy now.

We're two weeks further in the moving process and my setup is taking shape in our new house, so I thought I'd post an update pic :

* as2 : seems like we have the same taste in amplifiers
I exchanged the black LM1's for Silver ones, go nicely with the color of the G5 and screen ... plus I decided to make some use of the G5 sidepanel, so I hung it up, looks nice I think ... and it made a good spot for the iSight

Nice... like the touch with the G5 side!

I keep getting in the dilemma of wether or not to use my denon to listen to my imac sound on, or my soundsticks!

I know the Denon sounds better, but I DVDs etc sound strange not coming from the screen.

Hey pixelhead11, did you stain your desk, because it looks like the desk I got (Jerker from Ikea), and I've been wondering if staining it would work well. Nice setup too.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

What exactly or how exactly are sending a feed to those LCDs that are along the top? I understand that they can take any type of signal (VHS/DVD etc...) but I was just curious as to what AV feed you are sending to those screens.

The Jerker comes in either beech or birch melamine. I think a photo of my beech model is somewhere in this thread.

albeit only temporary as i'll sell the old 22 inch display.

this new hd baby is a real treat, not one dead pixel, overall smaller, but still way more screen real estate.

i have dreamt of 2 cinema displays, but it really is to much to be totally useful, at least for me =).

sorry, but it seems i can't post direct images ( not enough posts? image to big? )

Alright I know I don't have a powermac in these pictures, but a G5 1.8DP is headed my way in two weeks, which will replace my trusty PowerBook G4 667MHz. I'm really excited about the upgrade as this will be my second powermac since PowerMac 6100/60!!!

Anyway, enjoy the pictures

My theater

I will update them as soon as the powermac arrives.

Aww, nuts. An Aurora Borealis screensaver would be pretty cool, though (*hint hint* to any OpenGL developers out there).

That is some strange **** man. Using your side panel as a magnet board is funny and the position of your iSight makes conferencing awkward.

You also gots to do something about all those wires!

Agreed!

Which begs the question, why is it there? The kitchen roll holder I use to mount my web cam is not only several thousand pounds cheaper than using the side panel of a G5, but far more practical too!

Come on guys. I can't speak for the original poster, but I think he wanted to have his door off to show off the insides of the G5. But the door is pretty enough that it's a shame to just put it in a closet, so he's using it as a kind of objet d'art. I like it.

Thank you !! My point exactly !

And why use a kitchen roll holder for my iSight when I can use a kick ass G5 side panel !? As mentioned before, it would be a shame to just stock that panel somewhere, might as well use it and make some advertisement for Apple everytime someone comes in my study.

Plus I don't use it as a magnetic board, how could I ? It Alu. And there is nothing awkward about conferencing with the iSight placed as it is ...

i noticed that a lot of people have the cover off their G5 machine so that the inside guts are exposed. Is it safe to operate the machine like that? or did you purchase a special plastic cover to protect the computer?

All powermac G5s come with a special plastic window behind the normal case door.
