Really nice.

Is that menubar transparent, or using a lightened part of the desktop pic as a fill?

If it is viable - which i do believe it is now - then it needs to be made.
Way to go, great mockup.

That's purdy...

Hey for standard windows you could make the titlebar transparent like the menubar, with a black section for the widgets; should look sweet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the gradient is only possible in metal windows, and if that is so, the buttons and other elements are going to look a lot weaker on some other kind of background.

I'm all for someone doing this theme, but I think that mockup still has a ways to go.

Me likey. Me likey very much.

Like InMotion, only good.

I'd really like to see it made, so many promising mockups never see the light of day. Please consider spending a little time learning ThemePark (and a lot making it into a theme!) - there are some very obliging experts around these parts who in my experience are willing to help theming n00bs if they need it.

However, I don't really see how it is related to the whole Aero/Longhorn thing - could you post a screenshot of the inspiration? I think that, if anything, this theme owes more to the new FC interface than to any MS interface and would prefer to see it renamed than to have any implicit credit for style go to the Empire (cue imperial march music - dum dum dum, dum dee dum, dum dee dum).

Anywho, keep up the good work!

I am reading about Themepark right now.

Here is a second variation. First one was Aero, now this is GlassAero.

And yes I am aware of gradients only in metal windows, other windows will not feature gradients. I am wondering if you can have a transparency entire window like below?

@siMac: M$ Longhorn features transparency w/ Desktop Window Manager turned on. Aero is also what you can call the entire new M$ interface (like Luna is XP's interface). You can find many Aero related things at Aero-Soft.com (sister to Aqua-Soft.org).

Superb looking mockup.

Surely there must be someone familiar with TP to help get this theme made?

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

Unfortunately that level of transparency is not possible with the current ShapeShifter, which is a real shame because that's a nice variation.

I know what Aero is, which is why I don't understand how this theme is influenced by it. I fail to see any similarities apart from the widgets?

The text needs to be black or at least a dark grey in that one.

I concur. It looks too flat. The window needs a bevel.

Good, but I still think a decent window bevel is called for. And it really needs a different Apple menu cap. It looks to much like Xiap's theme (forgot the name of it)

I'm not sure the kid fits in right now. Looks outa place.

A window bevel, like the one in the regular finder window. It looks very flat.

There! That slight bevel on the inactive tab would look good on the rest of the elements, methinks. Just make it so the light source is straight above (Apple style) and not at a 45 degree angle (Microsoft style).

you're not working for hire here, design this theme as you think will look best and make you happiest.
personally i think the window is fine as it is, a bevel would take away from its elegance.

OK, here's some screenshots to try to explain what I mean. Please, please, don't take my bringing this up again as criticism because it's not - I love what you've come up with, I just don't want a load of snivelling little Windows-monkeys unnecessarily mouthing off about how Mac users are trying to imitate M$.

Apple Motion (note: these windows are also transparent):

Your mockup:

Longhorn Slate:

These seemed to be the most reliable and most probably authentic Slate screenshots I could find. if you have better ones I'd love to see them. I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

My Photoshop style is slightly darker than the real Longhorn Slate. It's more similar to StefanKa's Photoshop style, but it darker and has a different angle of reflection. There are tons of Photoshop styles for glass and aero at Aero-Soft.com

the first one, make the first one! its damn nice, breaks the mould for a black theme haveing to be pitch black. I don't think the transparency version works aswell and would just become annoying. Like everyone else said listen to what other people say but if you disagree don't do it, keep you're vision, thats what I'm doing with my icons. Then again no one seems to respond to that post the icon thread (at the end, I've updated the link btw, all advice will be apreciated)
