Hm... it works, but why would you?
It makes a huge mess... especially with YDL and OSX.
I have my comp set up like so:
10 gig drive: 5 gig partition: OS 9.04 - used mainly
5 gig partition: OS X, OS 9.1 - used for experimentation
850 meg drive: LinuxPPC (I won't go into the partitions...)
I suggest keeping OSX and YDL on seperate partitions of HD's, cause of the mess they make.
Dunno about the beta, but DP4 was 36000 files or thereabouts...

I have an iMac 266 / 96MB RAM and 15GB Quantum HDD !
The partitions:
2 GB (HFS+) MACOS 9 - main OS
2 GB (HFS+) MACOS X - MACOS X :-) (for testing)
2 GB Yellow Dog - Not visible from MACOS !
1GB - (HFS) VM + Scratch + MACOS 9 (Bulgarian) - for demos
8 GB - (HFS+) Work (Apps, games, documents and ...)
--------
YDL and OSX -> YDL do not see HFS+ and OSX do not see YDL :-)
There is no mess at all :-)
