I've heard good things about the Zire 31. I haven't bought it (yet), but I've played around with it at the store and it seems pretty cool. There's fifty bazillion colour themes to play with.
iBook G4: 800mhz, 640mb, 40gb ("Astrid")
iPod: 30gb Photo ("Gordon"), 1gb Shuffle ("Tinker Bell")
For the record: I am female

I've used the Zire 31, Zire 71, and Tungsten E side by side. The Tungsten and Zire 71 are by far better, because they use the same high resolution (320x320 instead of 160x160), active matrix screen. The 31 sucks. The resolution is low and grainy and the screen is passive matrix, which means that the response time is slow and overall it's just fuzzy and not sharp.

The Tungsten E is only $50 more than the Zire 31, and has double the internal memory and a nicer screen. Even though those are the only differences, I'd say it's definitely worth it.

I have the zire 71 and it is amazing. I waited for 5 years for a PDA that would fit all my needs and the 71 was the first one to do that.

Same thing really just with bluetooth and no slider to protect the camera.

I have been using this palm for about 8 months now and I can say "it works" The camera is low quality but it't nice to have one with you all the time. I also like the abaility to play MP3's. I picked up a 4g Ipod and I've stopped using the Zire anymore. Its a shame I guess. I'll give you a good deal if you want to buy it

Only kidding about seeling it. I use it to connect to my ODBII connectors in my cars to read error codes (Why the engine light comes on).

I'd buy a Zire 72 if they had a japanese version (so it would support the japanese character support). Heck, any nice PDA with bluetooth and an option for 802.11b in japanese. Sigh...
