Dreamhost is pretty popular for personal sites, if you do decide to go with them, there's some folks on this forum who would benefit from your referral.
My company only partners with sustainable vendors, so we plan to move our data to this company: http://www.aiso.net/.
MediaTemple is also a trusted company for enterprise level hosting.
BTW, do a search, this topic has been discussed ad-nausium.
