Despite recent developments, Samsung still doesn't intend to negotiate for an out-of-court settlement with Apple, says the head of Samsung's mobile and IT division, Shin Jong-kyun. "It may be true that HTC may have agreed to pay 300 billion won [$276 million US] to Apple, but we don't intend to [negotiate] at all," he tells reporters. Neither Apple nor HTC have announced the exact financial details of their settlement; Shin is likely referring to analyst estimates that HTC will be paying Apple $6 to $8 per phone in licensing fees, which could amount to between $180 million and $280 million in 2013. The HTC deal came largely as a surprise, and has fueled speculation that other settlements could be around the corner. Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously expressed a willingness to settle, in contrast to the more aggressive stance taken by his predecessor, Steve Jobs. Samsung though has already suffered a major legal defeat at Apple's hands, and may not be in a good negotiating position.

"pay 300 billion won [$276 million US] to Apple" I think that should read 300 million, not billion.

Since 300 million South Korean won converts to about $US 276,000, I'd say you're wrong.
