Nice work, Rob. I don't have the attention span to stay on a project that long.

I wonder if he actually smashed a glass bottle against the fiberglass finish. That ceremony works better on a steel boat.

The boat does look sweet.

Anybody else think it's bizarre to insta-ban somebody, and then spend days fawning on his posts?

No but I find it bizarre that someone who whines about SUVs and their fuel consumption would put a V8 petrol engine in a boat when a diesel would have been as fast.

Good point.

There's no real utility in this joyride either, is there.

The boat hasn't broken any rules. Though $3,991 is deceptive. That would be out-of-pocket costs, primarily the boat itself and parts. If he counted his labor at a decent rate, it would be far higher.

Let's see ... 14 months since the thread started. If he worked on the boat 1 hour each day @ $10 per hour, that's an extra $4,200.

Yeah, well, over the past year I've spent a fair bit of time on the toilet but I'd never tally it up as time unpaid.

I think you can only consider personal-labor worth if what you're doing is something you never intended to do or aren't enjoying while doing.

Good work, Rob!
Thanks for being OCD enough to bring closure to this thread! I always had a feeling you'd finish it off right.

I'm considering building an RV-7 in my garage, but that's a lot of work for a really long time. 1500 to 2000 hours across 2-5 years. Anyone have any experience with big hobby projects like that?

I wouldn't say that...

Have you ever wondered how enormous the pile would be if it were possible for you to summon forth, in one spot, every poop you'd ever taken? I have.

That appears to be the title from the Youtube page (the title element in <head>). The entities in question appear to be formatting characters. I'd expect them to be interpret here as they are in the browser, but they are not. It could possibly be related to the ampersand bug - the hack put in to mask the ampersand bug might be triggering too late for the rendering to understand it as an entity.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
