Anyone else having this problem?
If you have some non-Apple software installed on your system, you may realise from time to time that some of your files (whatever it is) would get an icon from a totally unrelated application--i.e. a warcraft 3 icon for OS9 extension files. I had this problem before Panther, is there any way to get rid of this annoying problem?
Thanks,
-F

Yup, it's happening here, too.
My OS 9 Excel (.xls) files were first accompanied with the proper green 'XL' logo. Within a restart or two they changed to the MSN Messenger "busy" logo. Next, they were represented by some smear of black pixels on white (mashed potatoes and pepper?) Now the green XL is back.
What an adventure!

I have the occasional errant icon in Panthernever happened in Jaguar. Sometimes it's another icon, sometimes it's just an extraneous graphic. Today I had Photoshop TIFFs with Applescript and Finder icons, yesterday it was a script with some unknown stuff. Before that... anyway, I've found that if I open the Get Info window for the file, select the icon and hit delete, the real icon will usually be under the errant one. I had the network server icon replaced with something weird and couldn't figure it out. Finally changed it with CandyBar.

Now that everyone knows it's just a matter of waiting for 1.20.09.

Not just non-Apple software. The other day my sidebar "Home" icon changed to Preview's JPEG icon.
This seems to happen a lot with Panther.

Same here, I have accidently removed items from the dock... thinking they were something else because the icon had changed.

Me too. Various random or corrupted icons.

Same here, from time to time.
Seems that some icon cache gets corrupted or something. The original icons are still there, untouched, since logging out and back in again usually turns up the right icon.
