same as any other os install

just install on the fw hd and then in startup disk under prefs select the 10.4 system folder

but be warned that you won't get "maximum" performance if you have the checkbox under energy saver that spins down hard drives when ever possible because it will lag the os

Okay buddies, I have the dev preview- Tiger does not install on a FireWire HD , it does not even appear in the list, so relax and quit bitching. Plus, this is not a tech support issue, but rather a missing FEATURE, which we are allowed to discuss. And if you don't believe me, how bout you check HERE.

That's odd, as I installed it on my LaCie external 160gb drive without any problems. I also installed it on my LaCie PocketDrive 40gb.
