Dammit.

If I had ordered from MacMall, then Apple would have been the one shipping early.

Does this mean we can openly discuss Tiger features and details without getting our threads locked?

Someone at PCMall is going to be in a lot of trouble over this.

Well, according to your front page, Apple is shipping Tiger too already, to arrive on Monday (Apr. 25th).

Like I already said, Apple is already shipping it too, not just MacMall (and others).

To stores, maybe, but you can bet they won't be shipping to users yet.

Actually, the front page states (quoted):

"Expected to be officially launched on April 29th, one MacNN reader forwarded shipment confirmation from the Apple Store. The documents showed a delivery date of April 25 via Fedex Ground--well ahead of the official release date next week (orders with expedited shipping may have earlier delivery dates)."

To me that means home users.

Maybe it's got something to do with Tiger showing up on warez sites.

Hope the quicker deliveries are worldwide! Mmmm!!!!

Though I bet that spoils the official release date and launch parties somewhat :/

That's what I asked, and so far, the mods are being strangely quiet.

So then people would believe somebody else who supposedly has the retail copy in hand already? Maybe we need DNA evidence/30-page photo album to support that somebody does indeed have the actual retail DVD in hand...

So can you confirm if iWork demo is included in the box as was reported on another forum?

So its confirmed, some people do have their copies. Lucky them - god knows how long i'll have to wait until I get mine through the adc mailing.

Glad they've decided to include an iWork 05 trial version.

Apparently the NDA doesn't officially lift until the 29th. Mind you, NDA or not, there is good reason now to allow support threads, since end users who have it in hand aren't under NDA.

You shoulda checked the Tiger broken apps thread. It's mentioned there. ARD 2.2 solves that problem, but it's not out yet.

P.S. OS backups are good before any update, especially a new OS install.

It might have been wise to wait for Remote Desktop 2.2.

It has been posted on numerous sites that the current version of RD was not going to be able to run on 10.4 and that Apple was going to be releasing RD 2.2.

Now you tell me...just kidding...I read that but I completely forgot in the excitement. So now I have to look for a version of VNC that works in Tiger...

Other than that, it looks pretty cool. I have to finish work before I can play with all the new features...Spotlight says that it will take 9 hours to index my drives. I think I will wait till I leave then let it do it overnight.

Dashboard is just what I expected.

Safari is very Snappy (sorry, I couldn't help myself).

I have to find some h.264 material to test QT7 although my card will not be able to use Core Image/Video (not supported).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think CI/CV has anything to do with H.264.

Some people have been reporting on Macfixit that PC Mall has been calling them and asking to return their copy of Tiger so that they could ship it back to them on the official release date. So it's possible that you may not get it early.

There better be an update for this (and I mean free one)...having to spend another $500 just because I updated with what I would call a very minor update is beyond me. I will return to 10.3.9 and stay there and only be out $119 instead of $500.
