This has happened before, and it went away on its own, and I am completely stumped. The little red badges for the Mail and iChat icons in the dock, which are normally red, have turned a brown orange color. I can still see red on the screen, so I know it isn't a color/screen issue. For example, the red "stoplight" buttons on windws still appear red, but these dock badges are an obviously more brown orange color. Any idea what is causing this? it is really quite ugly!

Here you go...

I put Acrobat Reader next to it so you could see that red is still in fact displaying.

I opened the Mail.app package, found the badges in there, and they appeared red too. So it isn't that the files themselves are brown, I checked. I'm at a complete loss here...

I definitely prefer the red as well!

I don't really understand what is causing it. I've never installed any skinning software or custom icons on this fresh new install of 10.2, and still I have this problem! There has to be something causing it!

Your dock is rusting. Apply WD-40. I always keep some in my dock for situations like this.
