Well, it's pretty obvious that you guys would just rather bitch and moan than try to do something (anything!) to improve the next revision.

As I mentioned in the original post, I didn't think it would do much good, but trying and failing is better than not doing anything at all.

Editing your initial post to nothing; after getting a couple of mildly critical comments is very immature IMHO.

I was intending to respond to your thoughts today, but since you no longer have any; I guess I'll let it go!

I think that if you'd given your concept a few more days to gestate, you might have gotten serious responses.

As far as the issue of online petitions having any impact goes... Just look at all the press over the dueling petitions about RealNetwork's Harmony and you can see how important a well-written petition can be.

I'd like to see Apple turn around and say okay petition people, give us your credit card right now and we will ship you an iMac G5 with a ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB for an additional $300 (what it costs to add in a PM G5). What percentage of these petition people are willing to put their money where their mouths are? I bet you less than 5%.

Apple doesn't ship stuff in a vacuum, they know what configurations are going to make sense for their bottom line. Obviously a pimped video card doesn't work for financial and/or technical (perhaps heat?) reasons.

Petition your brains out, but I guarantee most of you wouldn't back it up with a purchase if Apple came through. The people here on MacNN are the exception, not the rule. People here recognize names likes Radeon and NVidia, the bulk of the iMac buyers have no idea. Moreover, they are casual gamers that will never push the video hardware to the limit.
