Woman MP demands hookers for the troops

A top female politician ín Holland wants Dutch prostitutes sent abroad with the troops to help them relax.

Annemarie Jorritsma, a politician for the centre-right People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the mayor of the town of Almere, went on national Dutch TV to demand the 'extra benefits' for soldiers.

She added: "The army must think about how their soldiers can let off some steam."

The ideas has been backed by the Dutch sex workers union which said it thought the idea had some merit.

But an unnamed military spokesman, quoted in the 'Volkskrant' newspaper, expressed reservations.

He said: "I don't think my wife would like the idea very much."

There are currently around 2,000 Dutch soldiers stationed outside of the Netherlands, the majority in either Afghanistan and Bosnia.
Damn those horny Dutch! They should just find a dike to stick their peckers into or else keep it in their pants! You think the extremists won't use that as proof the godless western infidels are spreading their perversion to the Islamic world? You think the average Muslim hates the west now? THIS would REALLY inflame things.

When will some of you silly twits start learning about the people and their culture? Stupid freakin liberals!

Really? Seems kind of mild... I'd be almost certain its been suggested before. Hell its a great tradition; gets lonely out there.

I don't think anyone can argue that we're going to be spreading good morals wherever we go. Despite the uptight "proper" facade the western world is pretty much morally bankrupt. Sure Iraq might (someday) be a freedom-loving democracy... but it sure ain't gonna be any better off morally.

This seems too stupid to get all worked up about.

It is stupid enough to be funny however.

Just like the French can be so... French, the Dutch are really... Dutch.

P.S. Welcome back! I missed ya.

The Muslim world doesn't need to worry about any more proof of our western infidels spreading their perversion; we do a fine enough job of that on our own. For many decades, there have been plenty of bars and brothels near just about any overseas military base, except of course in the Muslim world. Of course, you need to politicize it and sensationalize it as well, conveniently labeling everything as "those damn liberals," as if "those damn conservatives" never do any stuff like this. Actually, all the Muslims need to do is go to Lost Wages, where 80+ percent of the "gentlemen" visiting brothels are married men. I'll bet they're all "damn liberals" too. For that matter, the Muslims don't have to go anywhere, they can just get on the internet and see that one of the biggest businesses there is online porn, and most of which is consumed in the U. S., and no doubt consumed only by those "damned liberals."

This is why I trust Mister Rogers more than Ted Koppel or Ann Coulter, although Mr. T is no picnic.

If we're morally bankrupt, much of the eastern world is morally in debt.

In the UK we only give them playstations, I'm sure we could take advantage of the Dutch should the opportunity arise.

State-sanctioned prostitution is dangerous, because it gives legal recognition to contracts using sex as consideration, which itself throws rape into a serious grey area where it may at times be required by law.

Some of my wording there was poor, I will admit. But when you start allowing sex as consideration in contracts, you essentially take away that party's ability to change his or her mind: sex is required, consensual or no. That's essentially legalized rape.

Hmm, I'd have to think you could insert a money-back guarantee clause in there without too much fuss. I wonder how much of an issue this has been in, e.g. Nevada?

Yet when the liberals say something similar about porn being sent to Iraq, the right rips us a new one about how the troops need to relax...

It's not your wording that's faulty, it's your logic.

During WWII, the navy had an unofficial agreement with local hookers in Hawaii. There were agreed upon rules and everyone was aware that U.S. soldiers were using those services. But come on, the world over military men have always used prostitutes.

Okay, I understand what you are saying now.

My question is...

Huh?

Edit: Okay, I sort of see it.

I think you overstate though. It only opens up some... sticky situations that need to get hashed out.

Anyone have a "friend" who's been to a legal brothel? I'd imagine you sign a contract...

Now that'd be some interesting reading.

We need to learn about their culture, but respecting it does not mean imposing it upon our culture. Should I "respect" their "right" to take away women's rights? **** no. A nation that forces their women to wear burkas and takes away their freedom does not have the right to tell "my" soldiers or my women that ideas like this are wrong.

I think that this is a very good idea as it would help prevent rape (both of military men and women as well as Iraqi civilians). In response to the "military spokesman", just because your wife wouldn't approve of it, doesn't mean that others wouldn't, nor does it mean that you can use that excuse to restrict unmarried soldiers right to pussy. (Heh. That's not in the censors yet.)
