I used to be able to format zip disks using the finder (erase) or zip tools in a DOS (PC) format. Since OS 9, the DOS choice doesn't appear in the menu. However, PC formatted disks operate just fine. So, how do I now do this? I can't seem to find anything to enable in the file exchange control panel. Thanks.

Hmm, I was going to reply, but then I realized you said Iomega Tools didn't work either. Sorry, I have no advice then.

I believe this has more to do with the version of the Iomega driver/extension than the version of MacOS
to change the formatting of a ZIP disk, use the Iomega Tools program
(if you aren't sure where it is, do a find file/sherlock for Iomega or Tools)
(I've definately reformatted ZIP disks from PC to Mac format under MacOS 9, I missed that you had tried ZIP tools when I first posted, I'll look to see what might be causing the problem for you)

By the way, what version of the Iomega Driver DO you have?
Go to the Apple System Profiler and click "Extensions," then go and find "Iomega Driver."
Or just hit command-f and do a search for the extension "Iomega Driver."
I have version 6.0.6f1.

The previous post refers to the "Iomega Driver' which is absolutely necessary, unless you are using a USB zip drive then that extension is not used at all.
I'd suggest going to the Iomega web site and downloading the 2.2.1 version of the IomegaWare package.
I have an iMacDV w/USB Zip 100 and this new version of Tools has enabled me to access the Zip drive and perform reformats and such.
Good Luck!
