Hello, I have some encrypted files that I am trying to decrypt and am having an issue with my password.
The files were encrypted on a Linux box, using cron to run the script (and using the '-pass file:encryptionkeyfile' switch). When I move these files to my Macbook, and use Terminal to decrypt them, I simply have it ask me for the password (so I don't have to keep a copy of the key file on my laptop). However, the password has special characters, including a '>', which is where my problem arises. The shell is treating this symbol as a redirect, and tries dumping the unencrypted file to a file with the name of all of the characters after the '>' (until it realizes that the password is wrong, with the half after the '>' missing). Is there a way to delimit this character at the password prompt, or do I have to change the password used to encrypt my archives?
