In a recent survey of consumers, consumers appear to be more interested in the yet to be revealed iPhone 7 than before of the launch of the iPhone 6s in both the US and China. However, consumer interest in the so-called iPhone 7 is not at the same levels of interest ahead of the launch of the iPhone 6. Of the 6,336 smartphone users surveyed in total, which also included consumers from the UK, Germany and Japan, around half are holding off on their next iPhone purchase until the next iPhone arrives in September.

The iPhone 7 is expected to bring a revised chassis with new technologies including the possibility of dual-cameras, waterproofing, slimmer batteries, the Smart Connector from the new iPad Pros, and an Apple-designed A10 chip. Early leaks suggest the design, although new, won't be the more dramatic departure that usually follows an 's' model. Early renders by Feld & Volk, based on leaked schematics, suggest that it will be a refinement of the iPhone 6/6s design, with a new antenna band that is less prominent than before.
The iPhone 6 was a massive hit for Apple, and brought forward many early upgraders from the iPhone 5s who would normally have upgraded on the arrival of the iPhone 6s. This should put Apple in line for more upgrades from the iPhone 6 than it achieved for the iPhone 6s, as users return to a more normal two-year upgrade cycle. However, based on the UBS Evidence Lab data, Apple might not get the same rush of demand for the iPhone 7 as it did for the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 was unique in Apple's iPhone line up at the time as its larger display sizes attracted pent up demand for such a model.

Apple was behind the 8 ball before they brought the larger screen with the iPhone 6x's and was a major mistake that cost them billions of dollars in lost sales since Samsung had already marketted a larger screen with great success.
