Any opinions on this monitor? I'm looking for an external monitor for my pb. I was thinking about getting the dell 1704fp, but with this great deal i'm tempted. However, the sony doesn't have dvi it's vga. Is there a noticable difference. I don't do any gaming or graphics editing, but i'd like to use it to watch movies. Any advice as far as the x-brite in the sony monitor and dvi vs vga? Thanks

No mention of response time, 500:1 contrast, and VGA only? PASS.

I've tried two different LCDs with VGA connections; both looked fuzzy. Once you've seen DVI you'll never want to go back.

I've had my Cinema Display hooked up to VGA using an adapter at first, then DVI when I upgraded my vid card. I didn't notice a difference. It certainly wasn't blurry when I had hooked up to VGA.

I wouldn't discount it just because it's VGA only. If the display is of good quality it should look just fine over VGA. I would check reviews of that Sony model before picking it up.

If a VGA-connected LCD is blurry, then either the cable was REALLY crappy, or it wasn't adjusted properly. (People often forget that last step.)

The same VGA cable worked great with a CRT, so I doubt that was it. I had played with all the controls I could find (size, phase, etc), but I couldn't ever get it to look as good as DVI.
