no, it's like saying "grow up, you retard"

meaning, basically... " grow up, because you're acting half your age.. or, ...

if you were 20 years old, you're acting 10, similar to if you were 20 years old, only retarded".

have fun with that, monkeynuts.

Great idea! Defacing things is okay if they compete with Apple.

I'll go into The Sony Gallery store and take a sledgehammer to all its computers and music players.

And I won't forget the audio CDs. Anyone who buys an audio CD from Sony could have bought that same music in electronic form from the iTunes Music Store.

Might as well destroy the CLIEs too since Apple used to make PDAs.

Heck, I'll destroy all the PlayStations because Sony sued Connectix over Virtual Game Station, a product that debuted on the Mac.

yo dude -

what is going on with buymusic.com is that they are totally full of ****. they are a complete rip-off while offering a worse immitation service.

if they did something original or better...then i will give props. but it is not right for them to make fun of Apple's itms and rip it off completely.

NO CLASS. it's completely sad.

A security guard at the Sony store stopped me before I could put my sledgehammer to use.

I need someone with an automatic weapon to come with me so that he won't be able to do this the next time.

We must stop Apple's competitors at all costs.

you don't think buymusic is an exceptionally egregious exercise in bad taste in general regardless of the iTMS & Apple?

With idiots like these, I don't think there is any question about it.

What the **** is up with "wot". God Damn, I thought Superchicken annoyed me, but that is the kind of pure stupidity I normally find on Xbox Mod forums posted by 14 year olds who are pissed their daddy turned off their xbox after only 12 hours.

All you SpyMac FVCKS go back to SpyMac and STAY THERE!

I think that buymusic.com sucking is going to hurt the music stores because people will have already tried paid downloads and won't like it and won't wanna try the apple music store. I think if you're goona hack these guys, make buymusic.com point to or forward to applemusic.com

It's only the commercials. And you can bet Apple's legal department is already writing a cease and desist letter.

But Apple can't do anything about Sony retail stores. That's up to us.

their entire concept is "music for the rest of us" (or whatever) while taking shots at apple while at the same time providing a service that is deceiving and not nearly as well thought out as the iTMS.

you can see the iTMS influence in the graphic design, pricing and etc. There is barely an original concept in the whole scheme.

not only that but they only support IE users on windows. thats alienating plenty of people other than macusers too.

(i dont understand this thing with sony? i would prefer sony to be more sucessful than Dell.)

Because like BuyMusic.com, Sony is an Apple competitor. It is important that we, the Mac zealots of the world, make it clear that no company is allowed to compete with Apple.

But yes, destroy the Dell kiosks in your local shopping centers too.

FYI - you've now talked about hacking a website on a public web forum.

You have then linked to that discussion from another public web form.

MacNN is hardly obscure - members here have run into problems with law enforcement for things they posted here. Just know that if anything does happen to that website, you guys are the first ones who are going to catch the fallout.

You don't have to grow up, but, just for your own sake, grow some brains.

In that case, I'll make it clear to anyone reading this that I was joking about everything I wrote in thread.

And anything that I may write later in this thread.

Do not, in any way, vandalize or deface any of Apple's competitors or anyone else.

Anyone who expressively goes out of their way, or rather makes a point, to goto a store to try and "convert" people is a loser. I'm sorry. Face the truth.

That wasn't what that was. That was me picking on him. I am sure I have made several posts of the like. Only someone that was insecure, would find that to be a " I am superior" comment. Notice said poster never made any ill will posts replying to it. I am sure he is more secure than that.

Correct me if I'm wrong (like you all wouldn't anyway!), but aren't the BuyMusic.com tv commercials parodies of the iTMS tv commercials? It seemed clear to me from the "Music for the Rest of Us" statement. If that statement isn't enough, how about Lee crushing the iTMS guitar?

Anyway, while on the outside the stores seem very similar on the inside they're not. Business models have some big differences.

As far as the mock site, I thought it was funny. Didn't take it for anything more than that.

parody...? or direct antagonistic mockery...?

What gets me isn't the fact that someone else is trying to get-in on the music downloads game... that's gonna happen... no, what gets me is the apparent one-sidedness of it.

iTunes is an application... NOT a website. BuyMusic.com is a website. Apple is developing a WinPC version of iTunes which takes time for the entire development cycle. BuyMusic.com disables the mere ability to even LOOK at the site from a Mac just out of spite. That's just lame.

To deliberately alienate the Mac market (somewhere between 4% - 8% depending on what you read) is petty and has no real business goals behind it. It's a WEBSITE... they actually had to do MORE work (although, not much) to write code that every page uses to detect it's a Mac and redirect it to that stupid page.

If they decided to NOT be a bunch of dicks and let Macs at least BROWSE the site, but not be able to tap-into the functionality of the software, I could see THAT... but it just seems like a tree house in the back yard with a "No Girls Allowed" sign on the tree and the rope-ladder pulled-up. Childish.

The mock ads... the ad with Tommy L. smashing the iTMS-like guitar as symbolism, the statements made to the press abot S.Jobs & Apple from BuyMusic... it all is more than a simple "all-in-good-fun parody"... it's a blatant stab.

Not that Apple hasn't done it to... remember the Pentium guys getting toasted in Apple ads...?

I guess it's just easier to swallow when it's the the "little guy" poking fun of the big guy... but when the "Big Guy" does it... it seems like bullying. Could just be my perception... I'd like to think I'm open minded... but I really think they went out of their way to "make a point".
