No kidding, sometimes it's almost as if people go out of their way to make this forum as dead as possible.

We have an iron dog in the yard made from scrap metal. No one has stolen him yet.
It will disappear once the price for scrap metal is high enough. Homeowners and businesses have restored to putting up chain link enclosures to secure ground AC units that are located near the street.
When they are like this, copper thieves will steal the entire unit to get the coils.
So about 2 weeks ago I noticed what I thought was some exotic grass growing out of an otherwise unused flower pot on the patio. So yesterday I watered the pots with growing plants in them and realized the 'grass' was actually CORN! It even has a start to a corncob! Lets see how far that goes.
My guess: previous owner. And I would have guessed marijuana rather than corn, if strange grass grew in a pot I'd inherited.
I have plain old wild hemp growing on a section of my property, it won't get you buzzed but it's still illegal.

Today at the garage a woman pulled up, got out of her car, and just started beating the crap out of a guy; clawing, kicking, punching, etc.. He tried to cover up and yelled for her to stop, no good. He tried to restrain her, no good. Then, right before we reached them to help break it up, he simply laid her out with one punch. Like out cold. The thing is, he had no idea who she was. Crazy.

^^ I was about to update. Turns out it was his brother's ex-GF (more accurately ex-fling), apparently he and his bro are dead ringers for each other (despite being a couple years apart in age).

Sarah Cummins had her wedding fall through. They'd already bought a non-refundable $30,000 wedding at the Ritz. Instead of throwing the food away, she called area shelters, and invited the homeless to wedding cake and high-class food. Some area businesses donated more suitable clothes for the homeless that attended. Sarah and three of her bridesmaids plus some relatives attended to help with the proceedings.
The would-be husband approved the plan as well (and had footed the majority of the $30K).
I wish her well. It's nice to see things like this still happen. All too many people I know with money would pull a Cersei and give the excess food to the dogs. Sarah thought of the solution herself, and called her ex to get mutual approval for the plan.

That's nice of her, though it's pretty weird that they made the people dress up like that just to eat.

Does the ritz have a dress code? but it probably made it more of a fun event not just food. I would feel self-conscious in a place like the Ritz dressed in old clothes.

The pic of the bride with well-dressed men ... I took those for the directors of the shelter(s). The other picture shows unfortunate people in normal dress (the hotel staff are in the snazzy all-black).
Not a random ridiculousness topic, but I used to catch toads near my house when I was a kid. Many of them also, but don't remember what I used to do with them, but I never ate them or killed them. I stopped one day after catching one of them with my bare hands and saw that it only had 3 legs. That scared me for life as I never touched a single toad again. Kind of silly for me also as they could have secreted some sort of toxic chemical through their skin and I know that I never washed my hands properly also.
Met a guy today who graduated 20 years ago from the 655th best university in the U.S. as a math major. He does minor English editing as his job, and considers himself as a mathematician!!!! He's just some normal Joe off the streets who never had a math related job. He only considers himself being a mathematician just because of his major.
Yeah, that's not quite as bad as we were led to believe.

"Forbes ranks Troy as the 655th best school in the nation."
Not saying he is an imbecile. Just saying his school is so-so, never had a math related job, and he considers himself a mathematician solely because of his BS in math at university. I kind of get it if someone graduates with a math degree (from any reasonable university) and considers themselves as a mathematician at that moment. Kind of, sort of. But this is 20+ years later with no working experience in the field.

They had a can of this on an episode of QI a few years back and the panel were banned from opening the can because they said it would render the studio uninhabitable for a long time and the insurance company wouldn't allow it.
Its my understanding that you don't eat this stuff indoors. Or at least you don't open the can indoors.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
Normally, a bulging can means spoiled, but in this case you'd never know since the cans are pressurized.
In northern Sweden, yes. I've never had it.
Supposedly the smell is the terrible thing, but the taste is...peculiar but not bad. When eating it, people open the can outside and bring it in once the worst of the smell has dissipated.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
