This is my new PowerBook G4 800mhz w/40 gig HD, 512MB RAM and Airport. I managed to pick it up for less than a new 14 iBook! It is new (used once to review software and I received the full 1 year warranty) and I am very impressed with it.

Several brief items I noticed:

-After installing software and running it hard for two straight days, with Airport on, there was no sign of a heat problem. The fan came one once or twice. I am using the portable CoolPad.

-The screen was perfect and no dead pixels. I cannot believe the difference between my Lombard and this TiBook. In fact, after using it, it is hard going back to my dual CRT monitors. This thing is bright!

-The paint and body was perfect. Heres hoping!

Here is a photo comparing it to my Lombard and my old 1400cs that I use as an emergency portable back up.

Biggerfoot: Congrats on your new PB. Nice isn't it? Like you, I ended up getting my PB 667mhz G4 w/ 512 ram and Airport card for the price of the 14" iBook Combo drive. Crazy huh? Since I'm one of those new "switchers" this is my first time using a Mac. So far I have enjoyed every minute of it. Enjoy your new "toy."

I want the exact same one and have been researching for weeks. It's great to hear you're happy with it. Where'd you get it from, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,

:a

LOL, the 1400 does seem thick! I stuck my wireless card in it and it turns out to be a great couch surfer (I can drop it and not worry too). My Lombard is going to eBay....here's hoping (400mhz/dvd/Zip/30gig/384MB RAM=$700)!

Awesome pic. At least you have the two levels of redundancy. If the Ti fails, switch to the lombard, if the Lombard fails, switch to the 1400 which will never fail because it's built like a tank.

If I remember correctly, he was able to get the machine cheaper because the reseller he bought it from accidentally shipped him an 800-megahertz PowerBook.

That is what happened...then I ranted...and then ranted again...then I figured I would not press my luck any longer and took the offer.
