Hey everybody, I just bought a Wii.

What are some 'must-have' games, and what do you like about them?

I will be posting my Wii number up soon, so I hope to be playing some of you online in the near future!

I really love Zelda, it's really nice and it looks pretty good graphically. I also have red steel, It's a pretty decent game, but it's kind of hard to get used to, it's pretty nice visually as well.

Well... I would get Mario Party 8, only because I love them. And then Super Mario Galaxy when it comes out. Plus a few others.

Zelda: Twilight Princess is obviously the best game on the system right now, and last time I checked, #14 on the best-rated games of all time.

Super Paper Mario is a good time. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is good, unless you've played it before and don't feel like going down that road again. Mario Strikers: Charged is fun. I haven't played SSX Blur, but I'm trying to rent it to see if it's worth a buy.

The best games are upcoming. Metroid comes out this month, Super Mario Galaxy is November 7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is December 3.

MySims might be good, and Zack and Wiki is getting pushed hard by some gaming sites.

Resident Evil 4, Godfather: Blackhand and Wario Ware are must haves. I'd also get Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. And depending on if you are a fan or not, Harry Potter is fairly decent too.

Regarding Zelda:TP--

I just completed this game a while back. For those of you who loved Ocarina of Time, I think you will find Twilight Princess to be much better than Wind Waker.

Visually, I think what they did was a little risky. The "protals" and the general feel of anything related to the Twilight have sort of a tech feel to them--almost like pixels or circuit boards. At first I was pretty turned off, and I still think it would have been better had they not made this decision, but you definitely get used to it. Also, Link is a righty now--the entire game was flipped horizontally from the original GC content because most Wii players hold the remote with their right hand.

Story wise, TP feels much darker than Ocarina, imo. I like that, but others may disagree. I can't say much without giving spoilers, but one thing I definitely like is that while Ocarina's Navi was more or less an excuse to include an in-game instruction manual, TP's counterpart to her, Midna, is actually a very important, very involved character.

Regarding gameplay--this is the one place where TP falls drastically short of Ocarina. TP is still an excellent game--don't get me wrong--it just didn't live up to Ocarina's standards (and I doubt any game in this genre, Zelda or otherwise, will). Especially in light of the new interactivity offered by the Wii, I found the game to be much less immersive. That said, it was definitely worth playing through, and loads of fun. I really recommend it.

I pretty like Resident Evil 4 (Wii edition), and I have a few other titles too, like the Godfather...

I've got: WiiSports, WiiPlay, Rayman: Raving Rabbits, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario and Mario Party 8.

Looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy

If you have a DS, and Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, you have to get Pokemon Battle Revolution. At least, that's what my 8 year old son and his best friend say, and after watching them play I have to agree. Battle Revolution will let players choose their Pokemon using the DS, and then plays out the battle on the TV, with sportscaster type commentary.

Of course, that's if you're into Pokemon. I'm not. But it's still pretty cool.

Zelda: TP (Of course)
RE 4 (If you haven't played it before, or if you're a diehard fan)
Super Paper Mario
Warioware
Rayman: RR
Mario Party 8 (Especially if you've not played the series before, it's very similar to all other MP's)

I’m different. I would have cleared these questions before I spent $350.

Unnecessary. Wii Sport is fun enough in itself to be entertained for weeks and months.

That’s where you throw the remote against your tv?
You’re right I forgot about that. That alone is fun of course.

Super Paper Mario is pretty awesome, but it takes time - it's pretty much an RPG with a little old-school Mario action thrown in for fun.

Wii Sports is a great party game, especially if you have a big-screen TV. Don't bother getting the HD cables - it makes the video too sharp and shows a lot of jaggies. The Wii just isn't meant for HD the way that the xbox 360 and the PS3 are.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz has 50 party games (some are two-player, some are two to three player), many of which are really a lot of fun. I wasn't impressed with Wario Ware - it's okay, but it doesn't deserve the 8.5 out of 10 rating I've seen on sites like GameSpot.

I actually get a kick out of Wii Play, but most people don't. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so it entertains me adequately.

Guitar Hero III is going to be released for the Wii, so that ought to be fun. Also, remember you can play GameCube games, so you can get games like Donkey Konga (which I love), Super Smash Bros., and Soul Calibur II. I've heard that Barnyard is a ton of fun - my 40-year-old coworker plays it with his kids and loves it.

I'd honestly recommend first renting anything you're considering buying. Even used games are going to run you $35-$45 at GameStop/E.B. Games, so pay a few bucks to give a game a test run before you commit.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

I'm the same, I played Wii Sports for a little while and just haven't felt the need to play it again. I played with my wife and she thought it was fun but I just wasn't that impressed.

Got Metroid Prime 3. Love it, love it, love it.

I was always skeptical about the Wii's first-person control potential, but I think Metroid nailed it spot-on. Hoorah.

Indeed, kudos to retro for that

Iv been waiting for a critical mass of decent games on wii before purchasing, iv got my hands well and truly full with AAA 360 games at the mo (this years release schedule is unbelievable). Metroid and Galaxy will likely tip the scales enough.

After reading some MP3 reviews, I may buy a Wii. It does sound like it's got some solid games. Too bad we won't see Unreal Tournament 3 on it.

Zelda is a pretty amazing game as all others have said. . . however what sold me on the Wii was the Virtual Console. Nothing like Super Mario Brothers on a 42" plasma!

I haven't heard much about Tiger Woods 2008 Wii. Does it make good use of the controller?

Don't have a Wii myself, but I'm a fan of the TW series. (Can't seem to get my hands on a Wii. Never in the right place at the right time, and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay jacked up prices at Amazon or somesuch.)

Tiger Woods is fantastic on the Wii. The use of the controller is great. I have '07. It can be tricky to get a hang of first, and there are some quirks (which you'll intuitively avoid after a while). Apparently this have been improved in ´08.

Having your friends over for a round of golf and beer can be an all day event. It's highly recommended

Still out of stock in my area. Ugh. Nintendo botched the release of the Wii. No reason to not be able to produce enough units almost a year after the release.
