Hey I've been researching iPhone protective cases and what bothers me is how all the ones I like have that stupid belt clip on the back and if you remove the belt clip it has that round extruding knob. I don't like the belt clip because I always carry the iPhone in my pocket.

Is there are protective case that specifically doesn't have one?

Yes.

Speckproducts.com, iskin.com, ezgear.com all make cases that don't have to have the round clip button.

I have this one:

Griffin Technology: Elan Holster - Full-Coverage Leather Case for iPhone

The belt clip attaches to the holster by sliding into a slit in the back of the case, between the outer leather skin and the inner lining (there's some sort of stiffener on the back of the case for sturdiness). When you remove the clip, all that is left is the slit in the leather; nothing sticks out at all.

I bought the Elan a few days ago and it might do the trick for you.

Oh the Elan is just a holder there. What about something that lets you use the iPhone while it's encased?

There are loads of choices around. The Griffin iClear is really good, I use one on my iPhone, it has a clip that completely removes.
For my other iPhone and iPod touch I use my own GeekPouch - www.geekpouch.co.uk

**It is only fair that I point out that I will benefit personally if anyone buys a GeekPouch using the link above.**

I got the ezskin max by ezGear and I like it a lot.

ezGear ezSkin Max for iPhone

The belt clip actually unscrews so there isn't an annoying nob left sticking out.

is the contour showcase clip durable? does it hold the phone well? also does the clear case itself feel solid.
