The mom and dad just got a 1GHz AlBook off of amazon.
I'd like to set them each up with their own account and enable fast user switching so they can keep their windows open and switch back and forth.
They're mainly going to use the think for Safari, Mail, and the occasional PDF in Preview?
So, how much RAM? The default 256 MB is not enough. I'm trying to decide between adding 256 more or 512 more. If it were just one user, 512 total would be fine. But I don't know if dual users with fast switching (both active at same time) would require more.
Anyone know?
If it sounds like 512 total is the answer, anyone got a 256 chip from a recent powerbook purchase they'd like to sell?

Of course! I was just wondering if anyone had had experience with light use, but with multiple users.
Honestly, with just safari and mail 512 MB is just fine, but I'm worried it may not be for two people.
Anyone?

Safari, I've noticed, can use a lot of memory when its been open for a while. Multiply this by two instances of it, and with a few other things open you could start running low.
Then again, OS X does a fine job of swapping the idle user's RAM contents to disk when necessary....
Honestly, if that's really all they're going to do with it, 512MB total will probably be fine. 768MB will be a bit faster (less virtual memory swapping), but will the parents really care (or even notice)?
