Just checked the Apple website (a daily + occurence since 8 Jan!) and the status of my order has now changed to "Prepared for shipment"! Wahoo! Anyone else see their order status for an 8800GT MPro change yet?

Crap. I just ordered today and had it shipped to Portland thinking that it would be a few weeks until it shipped. I go down every few weeks, so I'm going down this weekend and again in two weeks. If it arrives next week I'm going to have to go a week and a half without it.

(Or maybe I can convince my girlfriend to ship it up here on Amtrak...)

Just changed a few minutes ago.... How long does it usually take for it to ship after you get this message?

FYI, it looks like Apple is now out of 500 GB hard drives. My Mac Pro is now stuck waiting for them. 5-7 days according to Apple.

Had a Feb 20th build on my 2.8. Changed last night to "preparing to ship."

If you want it quicker, you might try calling Apple to see if you can get it with the stock 320 Gb and then pick up a 500 Gb from Newegg or OWC. If you go this path though, make sure they don't cancel your first order and replace it with a new one or you'll wait evening longer.

"yes" and "affirmative" - those were awesome responses. Come on, I'm trying to live vicariously through you until I put in my order. What do you think of your new machines?

Yes. Very quiet. Very fast. Very nice. Don't game much but Aperture 2.0 flies with the 8800, and only 4g RAM.

Its speedy, I've been doing some H264 compression, and its extremely fast. What used to take me a long time to compress on my dual 1.8ghz G5, now takes about 1/10 of the time....

and.... MULTITASKING!!!!... I can run EVERY program on my machine, and not have any issues.

Congratulations... you must all be thrilled. Would be kind enough to run the Photoshop speed test and post the results here:

Looking fwd to marveling at your numbers.

Don't use Photoshop, sorry. I'm an Capture NX / Aperture guy. I'm sure PS3 will improve with the 8800. My understanding is the drivers are optimized for digital image work, not gaming. However, this is just hear say from my brother in Pasadena. I'll need to hear how PS3 runs on the 8800 when he receives his 3.2 8 Core which are not shipping yet.

I'm darn happy with the 2.8 however. The 3.2 is faster, but man it's more than I'll ever need.
