Ok i have some folders on my HD that i want to get rid of but i don't know if i should get rid of them.

P.S. i don't want to get rid of the School work folder.

You can't get rid of anything that OS X placed there, in this case Applications, Library, System and Users (anything with an icon on the folder). You should know that you made the other folders, so you could obviously delete them if you wanted to without any problems.

I don't know what the ~ folder is, but slpdLoad's advice is best: You can get rid of any folder you created. But can I ask you why you're placing your personal folders in the root of your drive? You have a user home folder for that.

Nobody else uses my MacBook thats why its on the root of my HD. But can i delete the system folder from my old Mac (iMac G5). It has to take up a gig or two...

Oh sure, if you're on a Mactel. Classic won't run on it.

It's a good idea to use your home folder, though. First of all, it's not a good idea to be running as an admin all the time. Secondly, if you have everything contained in your home folder, it makes file management a bit easier to handle.

Thx! What about the Extras folder? It has 1 item and the idems called 'Script Menu.menu' can i delete that too? And the alias to User Gidelines and infomation?

Yes, but you may want the Script Menu one day, so you may want to move it somewhere else.

I think a part of that was geting rid of some old 1.5+ GB games that don't work on Macintel. (SimCity 4 and SimTheme Park)

Of the folders in your picture you can delete all folders that have no custom icons. With the exception of the documentation alias none of them are standard system folders. I would keep the documentation alias though. It takes no space obviously and without it how do you find the manuals for your computer?

You should store all your personal files within your home folder. Don't put them into the root of the hard disk even when you are the only user of this computer. In the Finder preferences you can set it that all new Finder windows open with your home folder so your documents are right there.
