Experiments like this bugs me. In my opinion, its more indicative of the market than "which box is less secure". I don't know how true this is.. but I"m here at the RSA conference this week; and today, I sat in a Q&A session with a Russian A/V company president. He mentions that if you look at the exploits available for each OS (Windows, Linux, Mac etc..) - it will pretty much look like the market share for the respective OS's. In other words, Windows gets attacked more because the attacker can cover more area when they do this. In addition, you'll also find more attack tools against the MS platform for the same reason. This allows most script kiddies to use them against MS boxes - without really having to know what they're really doing.
You really want to see how safe OS X is (or any OS for that matter)? Advertise an offer of money to the first person to break in.. .I guarantee you it'll get owned faster than you think it will.

They're not talking about an anti-virus software. They're discussing the User Account Control in Vista.
